Alex & Matt Wedding

Alex’s Story

Born in Houston, Texas, and raised in Mount Dora, FL, has always been driven by a deep-seated desire to help others. Her fascination with the medical field began early, guiding her through a double major in Health Sciences and Biomedical Sciences from the University of Central Florida, where she graduated in 2017. After gaining experience at various hospitals in Florida, she moved to Atlanta, GA, and completed her RN at Chamberlain University in 2020. Starting her career at Northside Hospital on the Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) floor, Alex quickly made a significant impact. In 2023, she transitioned to the Neonatal ICU (NICU), where she provides critical care to newborns. Alex's profound love for the medical field and her dedication to patient care have fueled her success and compassion as a nurse.

Matt’s Story

Matt was born in Altamonte Springs, Florida, and moved to Mount Dora at a young age. From his early years, Matt was passionate about racing cars, a hobby that strengthened his bond with his father and evolved into a significant part of his life. It instilled in him a strong work ethic and an intense focus on success. Matt pursued a BA in Business Administration, graduating from the University of Central Florida in 2013. His career path led him to Atlanta, GA, in 2015, where he found his calling as a Project Manager focusing on Business Transformation and Change Management. Currently, Matt works for DS Smith, a FTSE 100 company and a leader in Paper and Packaging Manufacturing. This position has allowed him to travel the world, blending his professional expertise with his lifelong love for manufacturing.

Their Relationship

Hey there, humans! Emmy and Jimmy here, the real stars of this story. Contrary to what you may think, our human servants, Alex and Matt, never met in their hometown of Mount Dora. No, it took over 25 years and a tree at the Hulaween Music Festival in Live Oak, FL for them to finally cross paths. They claim it was serendipity and an immediate spark, but we know it was a joint calling to someday serve their feline overlords.

Alex was living in Pembroke Pines, Florida, and Matt was based in Atlanta. Despite the distance, they started making these ridiculous journeys back and forth for over a year, leaving poor Jimmy unattended for days, a sin that no amount of catnip will ever be forgiven. Eventually, Alex wised up and moved to Atlanta in the winter of 2020. Thankfully, nothing crazy was happening in the world at that time, and their one-bedroom apartment in the city center was more than enough for them and Jimmy. But seriously, who has only one cat?

So, along came Emmy. We forced our humans to move around until we found the perfect home. Once we were happy, Matt decided to propose to Alex in Paris, France - like anyone cares about the Eiffel Tower?? Now, they’re dragging all their friends and family to Italy for a wedding, leaving us 'poor, starving' kitties behind. It's a true love story, at least for them. We'll be plotting our next move while they're gone. Meow!
